Based on a recommendation by my professor, I checked out a Pew Research Center study about the public’s knowledge of current affairs. Turns out we’re not getting any smarter, despite the 24-hour availability of news on television and online.
But what really caught my eye was the Center’s surveys that let you find out what you really know about the news, your own politics, and your use of technology. Check them out! Not only do they only take a few minutes, but you’ll get to learn if you’re really listening and absorbing the newscasts of the day, if you really are a Democrat or Republican (and to what extreme), and if you are an avid technology user.
As it turns out, I know know myself pretty well. I only missed one question on the news quiz. No surprise… the question I missed was about the Dow Jones average. As for the politics, I am definitely a liberal Democrat as the quiz confirmed. No doubt there. And for the technology use, I am an “omnivore,” meaning I like to use my technology. I really think that I was catapulted in this category with my recent blog usage. Yay to the blogosphere!
